LFW, Autumn/Winter ‘11 Collections

Whilst scanning through the collections from London Fashion Week a handful of them caught my eye, including ACNE, Charles Anastase, Daks, Margaret Howell, Matthew Williamson, Mulberry, Temperley and new up and coming designer Kirsty Ward. But I think my favourites have to be Charles Anastase, Temperley and Mulberry.

Charles Anastase’s collection incorporated a country like French ambience, using burgundy, toffee beiges and off whites. Fabrics included wool tweed, velvet and corduroy. Jewelled Peter Pan collars, huge platformed riding boots and just above the knee hem’s were consistent throughout. I like that the collection is wearable and could be wore through day to night.

Temperley's collection demonstrated a deco like evening wear feel, using fish tail and knee length skater dresses, satin flared trousers, ruffle-shouldered corset tops and sheer maxidresses. I think this has to be a favourite because of the intricate crystal embroidery detailing on the dresses below, I love the use of the lace and I especially love the shape of the second one with the peter pan collar. Oh and the shoes!!

Mulberry's Emma Hill said "Mr Fox was one of my favourite books growing up, my mum used to read it to me. I wanted this to be an über English collection, I was inspired by hedgerows and traditional English pursuits – hunting, shooting, fishing." I think this just about sums the collection up and this is why i love it so much, i'm into my browns, emerald greens and the overall 'heritage' kind of look at the minute.

Overall i'm very excited for A/W 11 as I think a lot of the collections are very versatile and will be without a doubt copied on the high street.

Malene Birger

Danish fashion designer Malene Birger started her company BY MALENE BIRGER in 2003. The companies vision is to be dynamic, a design-driven global brand and inspiring; and inspiring it definitely is! I love how she encapsulates effortless elegance and still presents a little edge at the same time.

The BY MALENE BIRGER  A/W '11 RTW collection consists of core blacks, beiges and greys but shows hints of maroon and a splash of a coral like orange. The collection utilises a lot of lace and leather (mainly in black), lightweight shirts, just above the knee skirts and different types of coats. scarves hung from the models necks and were then caught in skinny high-waisted belts. A few sequins, maxi dresses and some fur were also thrown in.

Here's some of my faves:

ALICE

Polka dots, brogues, leather and lace combined with a palette of cream, nude, blue and black, Alice Temperley’s  Spring/Summer ’11 collection "Guinevere"  was one that really appealed to me.

Particular garments I liked:

Overall the multi-faceted collection succeeded in balancing a day-to-night aesthetic for Spring/Summer.

Wish List!

A few things have caught my eye recently, so I thought I'd create a little wish list...

I've been after a nude lipstick for a while now and when I saw MAC's lipstick 'blankety' I really liked the shade because it was a matte nude with a tiny hint of pink, this will definitely be my next lipstick purchase!

Another lipstick I'm liking the look of is Chanel's rouge coco #18 - rouge noir, I've also wanted a dark burgundy lipstick like this for a while and when I saw this I instantly loved it!

MAC's False Lashes mascara is also on my list - I've heard good things about it and because my eye lashes aren't very long I think the 'false lash' effect will work perfectly for me, it's also meant to be really voluminous too which is always a bonus!

Clarins Pure Melt Cleansing Gel is next, I've used this once at my friends and really liked it, it's for all skin types and leaves your skin feeling so soft and clean.  It starts out as a gel then melts into a sheer deep-cleansing oil, add a splash of water and it transforms into a deliciously light cleansing milk. I will definitely be buying this as soon as I can!

Moving on from cosmetics...

I really need a new bag for uni so that I can carry my books and folders etc in, I've been looking for a while and nothing much has been catching my eye, so when browsing on Asos and finding this bag I thought it would be perfect as it looks big enough and I love that it is a satchel!

The shirt pictured above which I actually adore is by Mulberry, it's in their Edie collection and therefore called the 'Edie shirt', it is 100% silk and has cute bell shaped sleeves with snake skin effect cuffs. Priced at £255 I will obviously not be purchasing it which is sooo sad because  i loooooove it!! :(
