LFW, Autumn/Winter ‘11 Collections

Whilst scanning through the collections from London Fashion Week a handful of them caught my eye, including ACNE, Charles Anastase, Daks, Margaret Howell, Matthew Williamson, Mulberry, Temperley and new up and coming designer Kirsty Ward. But I think my favourites have to be Charles Anastase, Temperley and Mulberry.

Charles Anastase’s collection incorporated a country like French ambience, using burgundy, toffee beiges and off whites. Fabrics included wool tweed, velvet and corduroy. Jewelled Peter Pan collars, huge platformed riding boots and just above the knee hem’s were consistent throughout. I like that the collection is wearable and could be wore through day to night.

Temperley's collection demonstrated a deco like evening wear feel, using fish tail and knee length skater dresses, satin flared trousers, ruffle-shouldered corset tops and sheer maxidresses. I think this has to be a favourite because of the intricate crystal embroidery detailing on the dresses below, I love the use of the lace and I especially love the shape of the second one with the peter pan collar. Oh and the shoes!!

Mulberry's Emma Hill said "Mr Fox was one of my favourite books growing up, my mum used to read it to me. I wanted this to be an über English collection, I was inspired by hedgerows and traditional English pursuits – hunting, shooting, fishing." I think this just about sums the collection up and this is why i love it so much, i'm into my browns, emerald greens and the overall 'heritage' kind of look at the minute.

Overall i'm very excited for A/W 11 as I think a lot of the collections are very versatile and will be without a doubt copied on the high street.
